About the Trio 

Maestro Ranjit Barot brings to you his trio featuring Arka Chakraborty on keys and Avishek Dey on bass. Their live performances promise exhilarating improvisations and refined musicianship. The trio presents Mr Barot's original music along with unique interpretations of some of the classic jazz standards.   

About the Artists  Ranjit Barot, born into a family steeped in Indian classical music and dance, is a renowned drummer, composer, and music producer. Starting his career at 17, he performed globally with the Jazz Yatra Sextet and collaborated with legends like Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, and AR Rahman on iconic tracks and Grammy-nominated works. His expertise spans Indian classical, jazz, and film music, earning acclaim for films like Aks, Aśoka, and Shaitan. Barot has also directed music for AR Rahman's live shows, the Commonwealth Games 2010, and represented India at global platforms like WEF Davos.     

Arka Chakraborty, a self-taught pianist from Calcutta, leads the ACT jazz quartet and has collaborated with artists like Ranjit Barot, Purbayan Chatterjee, and Tanmoy Bose at prestigious venues like NCPA and G5A. He is also an assistant professor at NMIMS and previously taught at the Calcutta School of Music.   

Avishek Dey, a versatile bassist from Calcutta, is a Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music graduate trained by global jazz luminaries. Proficient in jazz, RnB, soul, and more, he has collaborated with international and Indian artists, including Ranjit Barot, Louiz Banks, and Eric Truffaz, performing extensively in India and abroad.
