Event Description

Perceiving unique narratives reflecting through the Odishi repertoire, Rasavat reveals conversations, a path that binds different emotions with the other. Through creative ideas and new concepts it unfolds phases of thoughts, from a prayer to salutation, building up into a beautiful journey of senses.

Dancer & Choreographer

Shashwati Garai Ghosh is a leading Odishi dancer of this generation who has made a niche in her field. Coming from a family of artists has made her believe that art reflects life, and now she experiences life through the art of dance. She is the senior most disciple of internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Sharmila Biswas, whose association has groomed her to be the dancer she is today. She has also received special training with legends like Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, Smt. Sonal Mansingh, Shri Durgacharan Ranbir and Dance Medicine Fitness training from Dr. Kannan Pughazendi. Shashwati is the first recipient of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman, along with other honours, she received the 2016 Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Odissi. Her institute Angashuddhi – Home for Odishi – based in Kolkata, is her initiative to explore, nurture and pass on the experience of learning Odishi to the next generation. She enjoys sharing her art to thoughtful minds and dance enthusiasts by conducting workshops, lecture – demonstrations at institutes, schools and colleges.
