We're excited to announce a reading circle of the English translation of two Malayalam anti-caste stories from the anthology Don't Want Caste edited by M.R. Renukumar, translated by Abhirami Girija Sriram.

Join us for an engaging reading circle of two stories from‘Don't Want Caste' a powerful anti-caste text originally written in Malayalam with The South Asian History Society. 

Decolonisation fundamentally means to break away from dominant structures of knowledge and validation, and Don't Want Caste exposes the modern state maintaining the exploitative systems of casteism and the marginalization of various identities. The text highlights the burden of proof on the protagonist, a young man, whose lived reality and self-definition mean nothing until they are validated by a state stamp further exposing the bureaucratic mechanisms of control and systematic/casteist inequalities that have marked our histories and continue to shape our contemporary systems till date.
