off/BEAT is a new kind of festival- a way to redefine the experience of arts and culture by taking them beyond traditional venues and into Bengaluru’s historic, heritage-rich spaces.   

During these two weeks, we will illuminate the National Gallery of Modern Art, Panchavati, Sabha and more, and hold intimate dance, music and theatre performances with them as the backdrop. We invite you to join us in exploring and engaging with the city’s rich legacy in a fresh, immersive way.     

About the Performance   

Remember Remember is a set of plays imagined and written as Urban Folktales. In our city spaces, with our appetite to be instantly gratified, the demise of stories & lore, seems to have happened unbeknownst to anyone. Maybe we don't have the time for stories, maybe someone should have converted stories into memes if they wanted our attention. Or maybe, we don't remember that cities could have stories too. Remember Remember explores what it means to hold on to our stories, music and poetry. And sometimes to let them go. The play has been imagined as dreamy vignettes set in non-descript Indian cities. The abridged nature of the stories is intentional, keeping in line with how fairy tales are told sans detail & stillness. Although this script only indicates the spoken text with bare references to the imagery & action, the director, scenographer & performers can choose to reimagine & reset the imagery as they desire. The play has ample space for actor-created music, movement, dance & celebration.
