Event Description

In his most recent non-fiction book, Uday S Kulkarni documents the twelve year period after the third battle of Panipat, when the loss resulted in regression of the Maratha power. The sixteen year old Madhavrao assumed the post of Peshwa and in his short tenure faced invasions from without and dissent and discord within his kingdom and even his own family. The English power meanwhile advanced further from Bengal towards Benaras and Allahabad after the battle of Buxar. With over 1300 references, several appendices, unpublished documents, footnotes, and genealogies, the book outlines the life and times of Madhavrao Peshwa. The launch of the book The Mastery of Hindustan – Triumphs & Travails of Madhavrao Peshwa will be followed by a talk by the author. This will be followed by a discussion between Uday S Kulkarni, Vikram Sampath and Vikram Limsay.
