Event Description

RITU RAAG: The Living Textile Calendar of India is a thematic fashion presentation by Prasad Bidapa, inspired by Chandra Jain’s Ritu Samhar. It celebrates India’s six seasons through 16 handwoven Banarasi brocades dyed with natural colours.

Nine models showcase sarees representing each month, with narration, lighting, and live music guiding the audience through Basant’s spring blossoms, Grishma’s summer austerity, Varsha’s romantic monsoons, Sharad’s luminous autumn, Hemant’s crisp pre-winter, and Shishir’s colourful farewell to winter. Each segment blends seasonal imagery, festivals, and classical music, from Raga Bahar in Basant to Basant in Shishir – evoking India’s cultural and ecological rhythms.

The finale unites all models against a timelapse backdrop of the year’s changing landscapes, affirming that these sarees are “living calendars”, woven stories of nature, tradition, and artistry to be carried forward in both cloth and consciousness.
