Storytellers Bhagirathy Manacha Educator Bhagirathy Manacha, aged 82, was born and raised in Coorg and later moved to Mumbai after her marriage. She dedicated herself to teaching English, a profession she pursued for 30 years. Bhagirathy has also been a yoga instructor for over a decade. For the past 24 years, she has lived in Bangalore, where she continued her career in education, spending 15 years working with residential schools on protocol, schools including TISB, and an NGO, Adarsha Vidya Samsthe in Kolar. She continues to teach conversational English and Kannada. An avid gardener, she also helps her neighbours and the community with their community gardens and grows vegetables at home, by sharing her knowledge and experience.

Anupama Purohit Educator

Anupama’s journey as an educator has always been deeply intertwined with her love for stories. With over 20 years of experience, her career began in the classrooms of Delhi Public School, Ahmedabad, where she discovered the power of stories to inspire curiosity and connection. Whether teaching children or mentoring leaders, Anupama has always believed that stories shape who we are and the world we create. Her work with Janagraha and as a founding member of Shikshalokam allowed her to bring this philosophy into school leadership development. As a mentor at EduMentum and an advisor at Haddi Baddi, she continues to champion the transformative potential of education, particularly for children who need it most. Now, her focus is on the Missing Millions Movement, where she strives to ensure every child’s story is heard, honoured, and given a chance to flourish.
