Event Description

Rudraveena or Been is an ancient Instrument which is very popular during the Mogul empire. It is said that when the legendary Tansen sang Dhrupad, he was accompanied on Been by Naubat khan. Today there are very few Rudraveena players in the country. Murali has travelled across the country to learn this rare art form for more than a decade and learned from Stalwarts that includes Gundecha Brothers(Bhopal) Pandit Asit Kumar Banerjee(Kolkata) and Pandit Rajashekhar Vyas( Udaipur). He has been performing and teaching since 2015. Major performances include, Kalakshetra Chennai, NCPA Mumbai, IGNCA Delhi, ICCR Kolkata, Golpark Ramakrishna Mission, Kolkata and so on. He discontinued studying with Gundecha Brothers after the sexual harassment allegations against them in 2021. He will be accompanied on the Pakhwaj by Shri Anoor Prabodh Shyam. Prabodh is son and a student of Mridangam Maestro Vid. Anoor AnanthaKrishna Sharma and he is currently learning Pakhwaj from Shri Sukhad Munde from Pune
