Event Description

Ensconced in the lap of the Natural World, a place of quietude, is a place to dream in, to experience joy and, to reflect in creations. Artist Kapila Nahender believes that one has the power to create and yet to surrender to the creator. Her garden is a sanctuary, a haven to be at peace and dwell in memories of her childhood. As a creative being, it is interesting that some of the flowers seen in full bloom, appear in Abstract forms, in metaphors, creating a pictorial vocabulary. “My work is an enquiry, an observation on how I react to life as a whole” is what she expresses.

Inspiration comes from multiple references as that of sunlight that illuminates through leaves or flowers in full bloom. Kapila explained, “My paintings are layered with multi-faceted aspects of life.” The urge to connect with bursts of colour in the midst of greens, compels Nahender to remember her genetic roots, with her grandfather’s interest as a horticulturist in Lalbagh and her father’s association with Japan. On her visit to the country renowned for Sakura or the Cherry Blossom tree, she was enthralled by the beauty and felt a strength to live life to the fullest. She considers happiness to be akin to the Cherry Blossom Tree that blossoms only for a short period of time and is very precious and memorable.

Kapila Nahender combines line, form, colour and contour in her creative oeuvre of compositions that are a prism of colours with overtones of a spiritual being.
