Sri Raja Rajeshwari Kala Niketan (Regd) presents their annual “Samanvay Arts Festival 2021” at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Saturday the 13th of March from 10.30 AM to 2 Noon and again from 6 to 9 PM. Theme of the festival is “Shringara – Colours of Love” and will have renowned artists of Karnataka participating. The show is free for all.

 

Program details are attached. In the evening, festival will culminate with a A spectacular dance drama by Samanvay Dance Company “Jeeva Nadhi” which is choreographed and directed by Veena Murthy Vijay.

 

JEEVA NADHI is an impactful dance drama based on the two great rivers Tunga and Bhadra. Right from its origins from Lord Varaha, the drama traces the journey of a river from the dew drops and raindrops of water collecting all the bio rich materials like the minerals, the metals from the rocks, flowing through the trees and its roots of the Sholas. This journey of water converting to ‘Teertha’for the human habitat, andearth to be rich and fertile. The plot unfolds with the two characters personified as Tunga and Bhadra narrating the stories of  great Saints like Shankaracharya and kings who flourished  on their banks.An interesting interactive competition and tiff between Tunga and Bhadra reveal the condition of the rivers which was once a rich place for many civilizations and kingdoms. Jeeva Nadhi, the dance drama is a wholesome treat imparting a powerful message of restoring the rights of the rivers for water security.  Now the time has come to observe the sad plight of these rivers which is in an almost depleted state and envisage to conserve them.

 

The dance drama “Jeeva Nadhi” depicts the very essence of catch the rain and conservation campaign for restoration of rights of river.

Jeeva Nadhi

Sri Rajarajeshwari Kala Niketan (SRRKN), a reputable arts institution directed by Dr. Veena Murthy Vijay, has been actively involved in contributing to the propagation of Indian classical art forms in Bangalore for the past 38 years.  SRRKN is committed to enhancing the artistic knowledge of today’s youth through practical and theoretical education.  We work to provide a venue for today’s youth to explore their cultural heritage through creative and artistic display.  Furthermore, we expose the youth and the local community to an array of entertainment featuring India’s most esteemed world-renowned artists.  Our institution has educated over 500 students and has provided them with training in various art forms including classical dance, yoga, martial arts and music. Sri Rajarajeshwari Kala Niketan has been conducting Dance Festivals every year. Eminent artists are performing in these festivals. SRRKN started a diploma course and degree in Bharatanatyam and music through Samnavay Foundation for Indian Performing Arts and AIMS affiliated to Bangalore University. Conducted workshops by senior Gurus like Smt.Lalitha Srinivasan, Smt.Asha Gopal and other Gurus. The students of SRRKN have presented both kuchipudi and bharatanatyam all over India including the famous Khajaraho Festival.
