Event Description

Afrontāl presents their flagship afro-caribbean sundowner party in Bangalore at Sarjapur SOCIAL, curated for dancers. And by ‘dancers’, they mean everybody– because there’s no way you won’t be moving your feet when you hear this music! Afro-pop, dancehall & Soca music resonate with an island party sound that is hype, uplifting, and inviting. This event will have two DJs on the deck – DJ General Zooz & DJ Reflected Ray, 3 dance performances, and Afrontāl leading the dance floor through the night, creating a community space for all to come together, let go, and enjoy themselves. Picture yourself at a carnival in the Trini islands or at a Jamaican street festival – that’s right, it’s one big happy party.

ABOUT AFRONTAL India's first Afro-Caribbean dance crew, passionately leading the promotion of afro beats & Jamaican dancehall across India since 2016. They have taught 20+ workshops across 9 cities for 1000s of students and performed at festivals like Goa Sunsplash (2016 & 2020) and Covelong Point Surf Fest (2019 & 2022). They have hosted pioneering events with international faculty like Inna Dancehall with Blacka Di Danca (New York/West Indies)& Let’s Kutu Sa with HomeBros (London, UK) offering workshops and parties with the sole intention of building the afro community culture in our country. In 2021 we also toured with Homegrown for their casa Bacardi series in Hyderabad & Bangalore.

Line-Up Info: DJ GENERAL ZOOZ A founding member of the New Delhi-based group Reggae Rajahs, General Zooz is a stage entertainer who is equally skilled as an MC and a DJ, and knows how to get the whole crowd dancing. He has been active on stage in India & internationally for the last 15 years, appearing at festivals like Rototom Sunsplash (Spain), Sunburn, VH1 Supersonic, NH7 Weekender, Sulafest, and Ziro Festival amongst others. He is the co-founder of the Goa Sunsplash festival and is considered to be one at the forefront of spreading the dancehall culture in India.

ESHNA KUTTY A flow artist from New Delhi known for her seamless magical movement with hula hoops, dance & music. As the Founder & CEO of Hoop Flo and as a dance movement therapy practitioner, Eshna is deeply passionate about promoting authenticity & freedom of expression. She is boundless with energy and her performances showcase exactly that.

NIVETHA SHREE & SAARA THE TRIBE She is a Tribal Fusion Belly dance teacher & performing artist, who began her journey training with world-renowned teachers of classical Egyptian style and tribal fusion. Her team was born with dancers who share a love for this art form, and her performance fused belly dance with locking & flamenco.

OWND ENTITY It is founded by Divya Easwaran, ownd (one-wild-network of-dreamers) is an artist collective whose language is inspired by street dance styles like hip hop, afro, and house. They create stories and performances designed for stage and digital media using movement, music, and visuals.
