Climate change is here and now, and we need to respond quickly. We live in a time when the solutions to most of our problems already exist. We just need better imaginations driven by science, wisdom, community, and contextual local understanding to ensure an improved quality of life for everyone. Having spent time gathering insights into best practices both locally and from around the world, the team at Bangalore Creative Circus, is now working in Ward 46 in Bangalore to demonstrate how Indian cities can become thriving models of resilience. Local communities are facing the brunt of climate change impacts and rarely have a voice in decisions that impact them. BCC’s model seeks to shift the status quo from the current top-down approaches to a more inclusive approach where local actors have greater power and resources to build resilience to climate change.
Speaker
Ajay Raghavan Co-Founder, Bangalore Creative Circus
Ajay was a senior partner at Trilegal, a leading Indian law firm, where he built one of the most successful legal practices in the country. After being deeply influenced by what was happening with the planet, Ajay decided to focus his attention on sustainability and climate change. To that end he co-founded Bangalore Creative Circus (BCC) and the Initiative for Climate Action (ICA), both working towards building ecosystems for climate action. Ajay is incredibly passionate about art, science, sustainability, and wellbeing and has also co-founded Studio Madhatter – an art and design studio based in Bangalore. We look forward to a discussion on how we, as individuals, non-profits, businesses, and administrators, can help shape a better future for Bangalore.
