Event Description

This 10 min short film shot on a macbook in 2021, offers a slice of life as the character attempts to find solace in self-talk and mundane routines while in the midst of a botched up video call. The screen becomes both a mirror and a window into one’s inner and outer world. The home becomes a stage and conversations with self and “others” in the digital realm become drama, in this one actor, one space film. In the absence of the gaze of others, self-gaze becomes less about narcissism and more about compassion and validation of one’s existence as a real, embodied presence in the world. The film explores the concept of identity while the protagonist "Shereen" amusingly grapples with this absurdity of our part real part virtual lives. Sounds familiar? The film in some way becomes a Rorschach test for its viewers as it leads them to themselves through the protagonist.
