Event Description
What does it take to build a successful career in professional tennis? What are the economics involved and the tough choices to make? Does the existing Indian tennis system support career growth and development? Why do we have so many singles players turning to doubles? Where does the Indian women’s game stand? How could things improve? From Sumit Nagal’s bank balance, to why we don’t have a single prominent women’s player in the fray, these are important questions that are ripe for public debate.
To help answer them, we have someone who has seen it all – Rohan Bopanna, one of India’s most successful tennis players with a Grand Slam and multiple ATP wins to his credit. His career has faced many obstacles and his resilience and self-belief characterise a unique career trajectory. The man once known mostly for his big serve has grown into the elder statesman of Indian tennis, ploughing a lone furrow on the ATP Tour while nurturing the next generations of players along the way.
