Event Description

In this Sound Design Workshop, we’ll delve into the world of Sound and explore the various aspects of this field. Through a series of exercises and activities, we’ll examine how artists approach their work and what techniques they use to create unique pieces. Through critical analysis, we’ll explore the underlying concepts behind experimental music, such as non- traditional structures, abstract sounds, and unconventional instrumentation. We’ll also examine the cultural and social contexts that influence and how it has evolved over time.

Through a process of getting to know the world of Sound Design from the perspective of understanding the different elements that shape SOUND, analyzing and de-construction those elements, and searching and implementing different ways of communicating with the surroundings, this workshop is designed to sharpen the abilities of the participants to relate, communicate, and develop a basic attitude towards building their own sound based repertoire (especially in the field of theatre/sound design/film/movement). They learn to be attentive, intuitive, imaginative, and experimental – both in approach and design.

This workshop is meant to cover broad areas of awareness of –

1. The world of the Aural, developing sensitivity towards the various sounds emanating from the surroundings

2. Open-mindedness

3. Developing creative thinking and Design thinking attitudes (from an aural perspective), the ability to communicate and relate with the surroundings/environment, and developing one’s own personal repertoire and vision as a sound designer.
