The play depicts the differing stages between the movement of life and the stillness of a corpse. With the occurance of birth and death as a process, the play discusses the meaningfullness of life and the inherent philosophy in it. By depecting the anxiety of war that is at the root of the ruling order that makes and breaks the historical narratives, it explores the meaning of life through metaphorical conversations and scenes. The play has a unique style of having a dialogue between the corpses, it shows the triumph of liveliness, it also puts the cause of death into a sphere of internal interrogation. Using the blend of traditional narrative with modern visualisation, it brings contemporariness on a different texture. This is something unique about the play. A doctor who is caring for the civilians wounded as a result of the war finds herself in the house of the dead, where she starts conversing with the dead to get to the reasons for their state of being. This is something unique and special about the play. There is a woman, a peasant, a warrior, an intellectual a revolutionary and a discredited pontiff who are all a part of this house. While all these characters are dead corpses, the doctor is the one who wakes them up to talk to them. She represents the presence of life even in the house of the dead. She has rendered her services in the war, has now reached this house. But the system is following her story, and a spy is keeping an eye on her. When the sytem tries to arrest her, her body is beyond the reach of the system. This is the narrative of the play. While time is the unseen narrator of the play, the old man going in search of the herb that brings the dead to life, represents optimism. B Peerbasha has written this play based on the story of famous Kannada writer Chaduranga. This was originally written in the decade of the 1940s as a story. It has completely made the old story into a contemporary narrative through creative recreation.
