Event Description

Silk Route presents A Pair of Wings I Wish For, a children’s play for 5-year-olds and above. The play is an adaptation of Trina Poulos’ book Hope of Flowers by Vasanth Selvam. Silk Route starts their summer tour of the play at Bengaluru International Centre this Saturday 20th May at 11:00 am and is taking the play to various venues across the city and then taking it to Media, Chennai for more shows on June 2nd & 3rd.

Vasanth Selvam a theatre practitioner and Director, started his journey in theatre under the mentorship of Koumarane Valavane, with whom he co-founded Indianostrum Théâtre, a theatre company based in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, India. He made his debut in cinema with Jacques Audiard’s, Palme d'Or winning film, Dheepan in 2015. In 2019, he worked with legendary theatre director Peter Brook in his play The Prisoner. Currently, he is touring internationally with French theatre director Caroline Guiela Nguyen’s play Fraternite - Contes Fantastiques. About Silk Route: Silk Route is an Indian art organization, founded in 2019 by a group of artists who want to make knowledge more accessible by sharing it through art. Art is a collective human journey but in a fast globalizing world, we are at risk of losing our unique ways of knowledge dissemination.

SILK ROUTE is a platform that enables diverse paths for knowledge to flow. In our practice, East, West, urban, rural, traditional, and contemporary will meet. Colour, caste, language and gender will be challenged. Young minds will be empowered to believe in the magic of art.
