Event Description

Sounds From The Library returns for its fifth edition!

An intimate evening where conversation and performance intertwine in the cozy, listener-focused space of the BIC library. This hybrid series spotlights emerging voices from the Indian music scene, all past longlisted artists from the Toto Awards for Music.

This edition hosts RIVU from Kolkata, who is a Progressive Rock Guitarist/Producer and 2018 Longlister, a soundscape that’s as textured as it is emotional. Sharing the stage is The Sine Painter, a Bangalore-based electronic music producer and 2018 shortlister.

More than a gig, Sounds From The Library invites audiences into the creative lives of the artists; offering insight into their inspirations, processes, and personal journeys. With music that moves and conversations that linger, this is a rare chance to experience live performance in its most thoughtful form.

In collaboration with:

Performers

The Sine Painter
Electronic Music Producer
Bangalore-based artist, The Sine Painter, crafts music that defies easy categorization. His work combines the dramatic scope of cinematic soundscapes with the propulsive energy of the dance floor, creating a sound that is both intense and deeply emotional. The Sine Painter’s music redefines club music by pushing experimental boundaries and dismantling traditional dance music structures. He weaves diverse acoustic elements into a cohesive and unique auditory experience, inviting listeners into a world where genres blend seamlessly.

Rivu
Progressive Rock Guitarist & Producer
Rivu is a progressive rock / alternative artist from Kolkata. His solo set sees Rivu perform music from his 3 concept albums — ‘The Incredible Journey Of Light’ (2017) which is a synthwave prog rock record inspired by space travel and retro sci-fi soundtracks; ‘The Incident 2019’ (2020) a post-apocalyptic synthwave sequel to the first record, and ‘Dinosaurs’ (2025) which is a massive departure from the first two records in that it is a 5 song meditation on grief that travels in and out of genres to explore the 5 stages of grief (or Kubler-Ross model) — as well as unreleased music that’s just fun prog-fusion music. The performance itself is a solo-set where Rivu plays a lot of guitar, some keyboard, and sings when appropriate while a laptop handles the rest

MK Abhilash
Filmmaker, Music Producer & Poet
MK Abhilash is a filmmaker, music producer, and poet from Bangalore.
