String Theory is a Carnatic Violin recital by K J Diliip accompanied by Vinod Shyam Anoor (Mridangam) , Sunaad Anoor (Khanjira) and Somashekar Jois (Konnakkol).

About the artists:
K.J. Diliip
K.J.Diliip was born in a musical family. His initial training was from his father Shri. K.J.Shyamasharma and grandfather Shri. K.J.Krishna Bhat, who is an accomplished vocalist and violinist. He further underwent advance training under violin maestro Padmabhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi M.S.Gopalakrishnan.
Diliip has also been playing Violin Duet concerts and also Vocal-Violin duet with his wife Vid. Ila Diliip. He performs across India and has also made a mark abroad, in countries like Canada, UAE, U.S.A, France (in Paris, for the event - 'The European Night of Museum' at Musee Guimet), Switzerland, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Australia. He has given LEC-DEMs at various places like the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Museeguimet , Paris, Switzerland and so on.
He is a much sought after musician in the cinema industry and has worked with many music directors. One of his recent instrumental hits from the movie Monsoon Raga has crossed 3 million views. Pudhupoonal program in Podhigai has recognised him as an exceptional talent at the age of 18 & interviewed followed by a solo concert .
He is the founder of Lakkshya, a band which currently performs across India and has managed to carve a niche for themselves in a very short time.
Sunaad Anoor
Sunaad Anoor is born into a family of renowned musicians from Bangalore India. He is the 5th generation musician from his family. Sunaad learnt violin for a few years but was very much inclined towards percussion. He parallel started to learn the percussion instrument Mridangam from his father Vid. Anoor Dattatreya Sharma. He was fascinated by the Kanjira when his cousin Vinod Shyam Anoor showed some of the techniques to play this instrument and asked him to play it in a concert soon after. He continued his advanced studies in Indian Rhythms with his uncle Vid. Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma.
He has played kanjira as a solo and as accompaniment in more than a 1000 of concerts from the past 11 years. Sunaad has worked with many symphonies, ensembles, film scores in different genres of music. His music has the core foundation of Indian Carnatic music but is also influenced by genres like Hindusthani, Jazz, Latin and folk music. He is known for his spontaneous playing on stage and has a sound of his own which has developed in these years. He has performed all over India with very eminent Musicians from India! He has also performed in Germany and Singapore.
He had performed in 2018 with the ”Amithias Project" and the HR Big Band in Frankfurt, Germany, directed by 'Matthias Schreifl" on trumpet.He has collaborated with notable international musicians such as Matthias Schreifl, Sarah Buechi, Lars Andreas Haug, Sebastian Merk, Alex Morsey, Hami Keivan, Apoorva Krishna, Jurek Maczynski, Amith Nadig, Varijashree and more.
Anoor Vinod Shyam
Anoor Vinod Shyam, was born into the family of musicians. He started learning Mridangam at the age of 10 under Vidwan Rudrapatnam Sathyakumar and presently learning under his father Vidwan GanakalaShree Anoor R Ananthakrishna Sharma, the well known multi-talented percussionist.
He won second prize in the All India Radio National level competition 2012 and presently B-high graded artist of All India Radio.He has also won the Ananya Nadajyothi Kalapratibha Puraskara, Best Mridangam Artist Award during Kalavanta series organized by KFAC in 2015-16, Shortlisted as one among the top 10 young percussionists in the renowned Dumru Rhythm Festival, Ranked as one among top 10 Carnatic Classical musicians in the year 2016 by a musical blog The Humming Heart, and the Artist of the year award by Swara – Sunaadha Trust. Vinod Shyam has performed with stalwarts like Vid. S. Shankar, Mysore HK Narsimhamurthy, Kanyakumari, M S Sheela, pt. Pravin Godkhindi, Pt. Ravindra yavagal, pt. sathyajit talwalkar, Ustaad Shujath Khan, Sarod duo Amaan Ali and Ayaan Ali bangash to name a few.
Being a percussion enthusiast, he also plays other percussion instruments like Pakhawaj,Khanjira,tabla,Dholak, dholki and konnakkol etc. He is an active member of young vibrant percussion team Layalavanya and performs regularly with his Indian classical fusion band Nada Kalarava. Vinod has also performed at Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and the Frankfurt jazz festival – 2018.
Vidwan B R Somashekar Jois
Vidwan B R Somashekar Jois is a globally renowned Konnakkol exponent, performer, and educator. Renowned for his sonorous voice, unique vocal timbre, and exceptional clarity at unmatched speeds, he is celebrated for rendering intricate and complex laya patterns with finesse.
A pioneer in reviving and mainstreaming the ancient art of Konnakkol in Karnataka Shastreeya Sangeetha Paddhati, Somashekar Jois blends deep research with dynamic pedagogy, engaging global audiences through lectures, demonstrations, masterclasses, and digital outreach.
Somashekar Jois has collaborated with some of the country’s most eminent artists, performing Konnakkol at prestigious venues across India and abroad. He is also a core member of the acclaimed ensemble LAYA LAVANYA, led by Vidwan Shri Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma.
In 2017, Somashekar Jois founded the WORLD KONNAKKOL ACADEMY LLP – the world’s first and only music conservatory devoted exclusively for propagation of Konnakkol arts. Currently operating in over 25 countries,the academy outreaches 1000+ aspirants, with academic collaborations in USA, MEXICO, SPAIN, ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, BOLIVIA, ITALY, & RUSSIA.
