Event Description

Vasant Panchami (the fifth day of Spring) marks the arrival of Spring in India. It bids adieu to winters and heralds the beginning of Spring season. We celebrate the festival with special puja (offerings) to Mother Saraswati, the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge. The Goddess Saraswati is synonymous to Vidyadhatri (Goddess which provides knowledge), Veenabadini (Goddess who plays the Veena, the musical instrument held by Her) and many other names. The origin of ‘SITAR’ is ‘VEENA’ and hence we can invoke Saraswati through our meditative Hindusthani Classical Music. Our music encourages intuitive understanding of what feels “Right” and as well as learning to trust one’s instincts. Saraswati is often depicted as a beautiful woman dressed in pure white, which signifies purity of knowledge. On the day of the programme we will be celebrating the Republic Day of India along with Saraswati Puja. The national flag of India has a white middle band which signifies peace and truth with Dharmachakra. Partha with the strings of his sitar will invoke downpour of melody, playing selected pieces and ragas to celebrate the Saraswati Puja, the Republic Day and as well as the initiation of Spring Season.
