P. Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560078) About the Facilitator: Prasad Cherkady A seasoned Yakshagana practitioner with 26 years of experience, having performed in over 2000 shows. Beyond Yakshagana, Prasad is a versatile artist excelling in theatre, acting & filmmaking. He received the Meta 2016 award for his acclaimed play Akshayambara showcasing his outstanding contribution to the arts. About the Workshop: Yakshagana, literally translating to the people (gana) who are the yaksha (nature spirits), is an ancient art form with roots spanning over 200 years. In this workshop, children will be introduced to the foundational elements of this rich cultural heritage. The Yakshagana workshop offers a vibrant exploration into Karnataka`s cultural tapestry. Participants not only discover the art form`s historical roots and cultural significance but also engage in hands-on learning. Basic movements, gestures, and facial expressions form the core of the workshop, fostering an immersive experience. Ice-breaking activities and team-building exercises contribute to creating a supportive atmosphere, enhancing camaraderie among participants. The curriculum extends to encompass Yakshagana music, vocal exercises, and rhythm training, refining the participants` performing skills. Choreography sessions focus on traditional movements, stagecraft, and spatial awareness. Beyond skill development, participants undergo personal growth, gaining confidence and valuable teamwork experience.
