Diya’s work delves into the wisdom and stories of older generations, inspired by her bond with her grandmother, Suraiya, who shared secrets, gossip, and spiritual musings with her. After losing Suraiya during the Covid pandemic, Diya began archiving conversations with elders, weaving their stories into a reflective exploration of our past, present, and future. Blending personal, historical, and political narratives, she interprets these through her moving body, inviting the audience to influence the unfolding of each performance. This dynamic interaction blurs the lines of agency, creating a profound dialogue between lived histories and our shared realities.   

About Diya Naidu 

Diya Naidu is a choreographer, dancer, and arts facilitator, known for exploring themes of gender, violence, caste, and intimacy. Founder of Citizens of Stage Co Lab, her work blends immersive performance with socio-political narratives. Diya's global experience spans festivals in Europe, Asia, and Africa. She integrates dance with technology and is dedicated to mentoring artists, creating transformative performances that challenge and provoke thought, while fostering meaningful connections.
