Event Description

Synthesis is a multidisciplinary quarterly musical series that will present a set of fine young Indian Classical musicians (Hindustani and Carnatic) who seek to create a specially contemporary resonance with their listeners by exploring and integrating a more multidisciplinary worldview into their art form and its expression. While the core Indian Classical music concert experience retains its form and aesthetic principles, the musicians hope to add layers and interfaces with intersecting ideas from other art forms including poetry, theatre, dance and cinema. In the first concert of the series, the Carnatic vocalist Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath and the Hindustani vocalist Priya Purushothaman reveal the similarities and departures in their respective traditions and forms. Priya will be accompanied by co-artists Yuji Nakagawa on sarangi and Yogeesh Bhat on tabla. Aishwarya will be accompanied by Sayee Rakshith on violin and BC Manjunath on mridangam.
