This Friday onwards, in Ranga Shankara's 'View from the 4th Row', enjoy one of the finest adaptations of Girish Karnad's 'Bendakalu on Toast' - Aasakta Kalamanch's hit Marathi play 'Uney Purey Shahar Ek'.

Translated by Pradeep Vaiddya and designed and directed by Mohit Takalkar, 'Uney Purey Shahar Ek' features a stellar ensemble cast of well-known Marathi and Hindi theatre artistes, with names such as Jyoti Subhash, Sagar Deshmukh, Radhika Apte, Ashwini Giri, Siddharth Menon, Vibhawari Deshpande, and Ravi Sangvai, among others. 

'Uney Purey Shahar Ek' is a masterly narrative of a globalized city - any city which is in its transformation phase of becoming a megalopolis, through the lives of a cross-section of its people — the young and the old, locals and outsiders, men and women, middle-class and working class. All add their own colour to the enormous canvas of the city in which some dreams die, others beckon, some lives thrive, others crumble. While people suffer their ups and downs, the city grows monstrously, uncaring about who comes and who goes.
