About the Artist
B Jayashree started her theatre journey at age 4 in her grandfather, Kannada theatre legend Gubbi Veeranna’s “Gubbi Channa Basaveshwara Swamy Theatrical Company”.
Later she joined the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and graduated in 1973. Gubbi Company and NSD not only provided her with education but also helped her to gain valuable life lessons in the process. The informal means of interaction and learning served as a basic block for her future. In her 68 years of theatre, B Jayashree has a versatile experience working with directors like Ebrahim Alkazi, B.V. Karanth, N. S. Venkataram, and Prasanna among others. She has acted and directed close to 100 plays in Kannada, Hindi, English, and Konkani.
