Event Description

Theatre artist and author, Kirtana Kumar, in conversation with veteran journalist and author of the “City Lights” column, CK Meena, about Kirtana’s Bangalore Blues.

Meena and Kirtana were both students of the renowned professor of English and American literature, TG Vaidyanathan, at Bangalore University. His was the gharana of literature, film, cricket and food. Sharing his passions, they read and talk through the literary tropes, Bangalore references and musical memories contained in the 33 stories of the book. What is a fait divers? What role does direct speech play in these stories? Truman Capote and JD Salinger ring any bells? How is the “city” articulated in literature?

Kirtana will be reading segments from the book and Meena will probe the stories.
