Event Description

Tempos Of Illumination (گام روشنایی) Tempos of Illumination is presented and performed by Sarah MeeRan Cave (USA) on violin, and Saleh Mirsaeedi (Iran) on the Persian setar. Sarah and Saleh offer a unique blend of Persian, Western Classical, and Eastern traditional music. Tempos of Illumination invites the listener on a journey to the deserts of Iran, hills of India, and the inner migrations we all share. It will be an evening of unique musical nuances, offering an enjoyable palette of new colours, original compositions, improvisations, and warmth Both Sarah and Saleh came to Mumbai to study Hindustani Classical Music. By chance, they met for the first time in 2020 in Bombay at a music gig. Without ever having played together before, both performed together with great delight. Their collaboration is a work in progress, SALEH MIRSAEEDI Saleh Mirsaeedi was born in Esfahan, Iran in 1985. He has been playing the setar for fifteen years. His first teacher was Bahare Fayazi, followed by maestro Masud Shaari, and ultimately, the grandmaster Ostad Mohammadreza Lotfi. Having accumulated setar skills and Persian musical knowledge, Saleh then moved to Turkey for three years to immerse himself in new musical adventures and collaborate with musicians of different cultural backgrounds. In 2016, he visited India for the first time. Drawn back to India again and again, Saleh eventually settled in Pune 2019 both to study the sitar and help familiarize the local people with the setar. Saleh approaches music from an improvisational perspective. To him, any moment has its own vibration that can be translated to musical notes spontaneously within certain frameworks. Therefore, while he has mastered many compositions of Persian Music repertoire, he always plays them according to that very moment, and tries to add his own fingerprints in every performance. Saleh is currently visiting India again, happily studying with his guruji and enjoying the enrichment in music that only India offers.
