Event Description

The inspiring town of Badami, in Karnataka, made famous in the art world by legendary artist (late) J M S Mani through his seminal Badami Series, is Manjunath Wali’s muse in his new collection of works.

Manjunath is better known for his earlier series, based on the historical topography of Hampi, with the selection of a warm palette in earth tones. His recent series are a paradigm shift to a cool palette, that is of great interest for him to ‘see’ and recreate the landscapes skillfully, in his choice of colours. The Badami landscape with rocks formations appear magical in nocturnal landscapes with his watercolour renditions in sensorial frames. The ‘play’ with warm and cool colours pulsate through the nebulous sky and resonates through his visual imagery. The Malaprabha River appears to be the focal point in some of Wali’s works, creating stories from a panoramic view for the viewer.
