Event Description

The Crafts Council of Karnataka presents the 30th edition of Vastrabharana – an annual flagship exhibition and sale of handcrafted textiles and jewellery by 51 artisans. The exhibition will take place at the new gallery spaces at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. The participating artisans and designers have been invited to draw inspiration from the natural world and interpret the moon as a symbol of growth, representing the passage of time. Through this theme, the Crafts Council of Karnataka hopes to push the creative boundaries of the participating artists and present a unique showcase of traditional and contemporary textiles and jewellery. Highlights from the exhibition - Hilly Valli and the Silk Chamber will showcase new weaves from the North East, like moirang phee, Naga weaves and Mizo weaves. - Vriksh, representing contemporary Odiya weaves, returns to Vastrabharana with Odiya ikkats on linen - Bun ki bihar will present bhavana butti and sujani embroidery - Stuti Weaves will showcase Banarasi weaves - Blue Lotus will bring Ponduru khadi and malkha - WomenWeave and Rehwa will have a joint presentation of textiles from Maheshwar - Designer Nadiya Paar will showcase printed linen and Kota doria - Hastantr will present their eco prints - Kalaraksha will bring soof-embroidered saris and other products from Kutch - Arushi will showcase Gujarati embroidery - Sameeksha will present embroidered saris About The Crafts Council Of Karnataka The Crafts Council of Karnataka is a nonprofit organisation started in Bengaluru in 1967 under the patronage of Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay. The Crafts Council of Karnataka is also affiliated to the Crafts council of India and World Crafts Council. The mission is to promote and support crafts of Karnataka and sustain livelihoods of the craftspeople
