The Deutsch Bharatiya Big Band is a groundbreaking fusion of the Western Big Band tradition and the vibrant essence of Carnatic music, debuting in India for the first time. Spearheaded by the renowned German trumpet maestro and composer Matthias Schriefl and India's National Award-winning flutist Amith Nadig, this extraordinary collaboration blends jazz harmonies with the intricate gamakas and rhythmic exuberance of Carnatic traditions. Matthias and Amith share a 17-year journey of mutual musical exploration, culminating in this one-of-a-kind project. Matthias, celebrated for his compositions performed by world-class ensembles like the Frankfurt HR Big Band, joins forces with Amith, who made a memorable guest appearance with the ensemble in 2019. Now, they bring their visionary concept to India, enlisting 13 of Karnataka’s most talented young musicians to create a spectacular synthesis of jazz and Carnatic music. Featuring original compositions by Matthias, the Deutsch Bharatiya Big Band promises an unforgettable experience where playful jazz harmonies meet the soulful depth of Indian classical music. Prepare to be transported by a concert that redefines musical boundaries and celebrates cultural convergence like never before!
