Event Description

We need, in every community, a group of angelic troublemakers – Bayard Rustin

The joy of being unapologetically authentic is a gift that we, the queer-transgender community, can share with the world. In this 3 hour offering, we will use arts to channel our resistance by celebrating who we are. We will dance, draw and craft words to resist efforts that seek to invisibilise us. The world should know that no matter what, we will still party!

Let our joy and celebration be their trouble.

This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition warrior garments, on view at MAP until August 2, 2026.

This programme is part of LGBTQIA+ programming and is an attempt to amplify narratives from within the queer community through film, dialogue, and collective reflection.

Robin (he/they)
Robin (he/they) is a Dancer, Choreographer, Queer Affirmative and Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) Practitioner. Body & movement and what it means to live an embodied life are areas of their research and interests. In their practice they offer a curious and reflective space to support their client’s self led journeys of discovering their authentic self. They are fascinated by human complexity and the psyche’s constant striving of holding the contradictions of life rather than dissolving them.

Robin has completed Foundation in Expressive & Creative Arts Therapy training (2021) from Studio for Movement Arts & Therapies, and attended the Foundational Concepts in Jungian Psychology course (2025) offered by Southern African Association of Jungian Analysts. They are trained in Jazz, Ballet and have over a decade of Yoga practice.
