This concert is inspired by the idea that different musical traditions can have a conversation rather than exist separately. Classical Hindustani and Carnatic ragas find new breath in this concert.
Ravi Iyer on guitar, Anirudha S Bhat on mridangam, and Rahul Pophali on tabla, bring the raw energy of rock, the smooth touch of blues, and the improvisational spirit of jazz into dialogue.

Guitar
Ravi Iyer, a guitar player, composer and a music producer based out of Mumbai started out his stint in music by beginning with formal training in Tabla at the age of 7under the guidance of Shri Vasantrao Achrekar.. Drawn towards the guitar during his teens, there’s been no looking back since then. Exploring various genres of music like rock, blues, jazz and fusion, his calling towards world fusion music encapsulates his unique style in seamlessly blending various genres yet keeping the music highly engaging and captivating. Drawing influences from Hindustani Classical, Carnatic Classical, Rock & Jazz, his albums and singles have been nominated as well as won prestigious awards. He has released 5 albums in the fusion and rock genres and many singles available on all digital music stores.
Having toured across India, he has also headlined for a Jazz festival in South Korea and performed in the USA too. He also performed along with the who’s who of globally known fusion artists.
Ravi Iyer is also a music educator and has tutored students past 3 decades in guitar music. Ravi Iyer, had his own custom-made guitar designed which enables him to produce a distinct sound and style leaving the listener enchanted with his memorable tunes.
Rahul Pophali
Tabla
Rahul Pophali began his tabla journey at the age of 7, under the mentorship of Pt. Raghunath Agashe in his hometown of Akola, Maharashtra. Over the next decade, he delved into the rich traditions of the Delhi and Farukhabad Gharanas, mastering their intricate techniques. His training reached an dvanced stage under the guidance of Pt. Nishikant Barodekar of the Punjab Gharana, a senior disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
Rahul has collaborated with some of the most renowned exponents of Indian classical music, as well as artists across diverse genres such as rock, jazz, and flamenco.He particularly enjoys accompanying Hindustani classical instrumental music. He has toured extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the USA.
Rahul is equally passionate about teaching and has introduced countless students to the art of tabla through individual lessons, lecturedemonstrations, and Indian music appreciation workshops. He has conducted guest lectures and workshops at universities and music schools globally, fostering a deep appreciation for Indian classical music.
Rahul holds a Master’s degree in Tabla and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering.
Anirudha S Bhat
Mridangam
Anirudha S Bhat started learning Mridangam at the age of 12 from Vid. M V Mohan and is currently pursuing advance training under world renowned Mridangam Maestro Vid. K U Jayachandra Rao. He is one of the leading Mridangam artists in demand amongst the current crop of young musicians. He is an A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and has performed in many national programs, South zone hook up programs. He has accompanied many reputed carnatic musicians of the country at prestigious music festivals in India, USA, UK, Africa, Australia and many other European countries. He has also collaborated with hindustani musicians in jugalbandhi concerts. He has provided mridangam support for world renowned jazz bands. He has been awarded the prestigious Ananya Yuva puraskara from Ananya Sangeetha sabha in the year 2021
