Artists

Debasmita Bhattacharya
Sarod
Vidushi Debasmita Bhattacharya is one of the most prominent young sarod players in the landscape of Indian classical music today. With a distinctive style marked by emotional depth and technical finesse, she has captivated audiences across the globe through performances that are both rooted in tradition and responsive to the present.

Born into a culturally rich Bengali family of musicians, Debasmita began her musical training under her father, the sarod maestro Pandit Debasish Bhattacharya. She later became a disciple of the legendary Padma Bhushan Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta of the Senia Shahjahanpur Gharana. Through years of dedicated study, she has imbibed the subtle intricacies of the gharana’s lyrical and meditative approach to the sarod.

In addition to her solo career, Debasmita has been part of numerous international collaborations, orchestras, and cross-genre projects. Her ability to blend classical rigor with contemporary sensibilities has earned her recognition as a dynamic and versatile artist on the world stage.

Trilochan Kampli
Tabla
Shri Trilochan Kampli is an accomplished tabla artist known for his clarity of technique, nuanced expression, and deep musical sensitivity. Born in 1985, his debut solo performance at the age of 12—before an invited All India Radio audience—left a lasting impression. His command over intricate compositions and effortless style earned him instant acclaim, including a glowing remark from Gangubai Hangal, who predicted: “He is going to be a very great artist!”

Trilochan’s musical journey began under Shri Bhaskar Hegde and Sri Mohan Hegde of the Purab Baj tradition, followed by training with Madiwalaiah Sali of the Banaras Gharana. He later came under the guidance of the legendary Guru Basavaraj Bendigiri of the Farukhabad Gharana, and currently continues his taalim under Pandit Anand Badamikar, also of the Farukhabad lineage.

With a style that fuses the dynamic strength of Farukhabad with the crisp, articulate fingering of Banaras and Purab traditions, Trilochan has performed widely across India and abroad. He is equally admired for his solo artistry and as a thoughtful, responsive accompanist.
