Dhrupad is one of the oldest forms of Hindustani classical music, and tonight, Mukund Dev Sahoo shows you how it works.
He begins with a lecture demonstration. The slow unfolding of raag through aalap. The attention to breath and resonance, the purity of each note. What makes Dhrupad different from khayal and other later forms. How it moved from temples to courts. How Naad Yoga shapes what both performer and listener experience.
The evening moves into a performance, with Prabodh Shyam on pakhawaj. You have heard the theory. Now you hear what it does. Raag provides the discipline, and taal the structure. Stillness follows.
