The Summer Nook at BIC April 17 to May 31 | Monday to Saturday | 3 pm to 6 pm | Ages 11 to 14 Summer holidays signal play and leisure. But just imagine, if the time spent playing also became a powerful learning experience. Let your young ones imagination run free. It’s the kind of summer session you wish was available as a kid! It’s a six-week program that gets children to explore, create, and make things in a fun and exciting setting. At the Nook, children will have the opportunity to connect with others, ground themselves in their surroundings, and share what matters to them most. The program encourages children to think about the world they live in, and to ask questions like “What do we care about? What truly matters to us?” Through activities like poetry, movement, music, and dance, they will learn about different cultures and discover their own unique voice. One of the most exciting aspects of the Nook is that there are no rules. Children can use their creativity to build anything they can imagine, with no restrictions or limitations. With access to a wide range of tools and materials, they can experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. There are no teachers, no exams, and no grades – just a safe and free space to learn, grow, and have fun. The program also encourages children to think about the problems around them, both personal and social. They will be asked to consider how they approach problems – do they complain, share, or take action? Through this exploration, they will learn how to engage with the world in a thoughtful and meaningful way. At the end of the six weeks, the children will have the opportunity to showcase their creations through presentations and exhibitions. It’s a chance for them to shine and to share what they have learned with others.
