Book Under Discussion: A Handful of Dust by Evelyn Waugh
A darkly satirical novel first published in 1934, A Handful of Dust follows Tony Last, an English country gentleman whose comfortable world unravels after personal betrayal. Seeking escape, he joins an expedition to the Brazilian jungle—only to face a fate far stranger and more haunting than he imagined.
Blending sharp social satire with deeper reflections on faith and disillusionment, the novel is widely regarded as one of Waugh’s finest works of 20th-century literature.
