Some things become more beautiful after they've been broken.
The Wabi Sabi Arc is a calming, hands-on experience that brings together two timeless Japanese art forms, Kintsugi and Sumi-e, each rooted in the philosophy of embracing imperfection, simplicity, and presence.
You'll begin by learning the story behind these centuries-old practices before intentionally breaking your own ceramic piece. Piece by piece, you'll rebuild it using the principles of Kintsugi, transforming cracks into something worth celebrating instead of hiding.
While your ceramic piece sets, we'll shift into the quiet world of Sumi-e, the traditional Japanese art of ink painting. Through a guided demonstration, you'll explore expressive brushwork, mindful movement, and create your own artwork inspired by classic Sumi-e compositions.
Once your ceramic piece has cured, you'll return to complete the final step of Kintsugi by highlighting every repaired seam with gold, turning every fracture into part of the design.
No prior experience is needed. Whether you're here to learn something new, spend a creative afternoon, or simply slow down for a few hours, this workshop is designed to help you enjoy the process just as much as the finished piece.
