Event Description

This is a workshop with five master picture bookmakers, and a glimpse into the way they see the world.

Deepa Balsavar, Ogin Nayam, Pankaj Saikia, Priya Kuriyan and Rajiv Eipe share how they turn their observations into stories for children. This interactive workshop will include a peek into the illustrators’ sketchbooks and processes, a question and answer session and a drawing activity.

The workshop is ideal for illustrators, designers, librarians and teachers—anyone who works with picture books.

Deepa Balsavar
Illustrator
Deepa Balsavar lives with one dog and three cats and she’s the runt of the litter. She’s recommended by nine out of ten species.

Ogin Nayam
Illustrator
Ogin Nayam studied biotechnology and life made him an illustrator. He likes his coffee with a dash of milk and a dream.

Pankaj Saikia
Illustrator
Pankaj Saikia loves to tell stories through pictures. He also happens to be a fox who lives in a bamboo grove in Assam.

Priya Kuriyan
Illustrator
Priya Kuriyan is a chronic doodler who lives in Bangalore and loves drawing its people, trees, crows and cats.

Rajiv Eipe
Illustrator
Rajiv Eipe makes picture books, comics and short animation films. He is learning to rotate his head a full 360º from a neighbouring barn owl.
