Showcasing snow capped frontiers, golden stretches of land, tall crystalline peaks piercing the sky, dark caverns, and decaying shrines, Professor BN Goswamy unravels a series of Pahari paintings based on the relatively unknown Shaivite text from Rajasthan- A Sacred Journey: The Kedara Kalpa– his latest book. He leans on a series of hitherto un-identified paintings in which one sees five pilgrims traversing through uncharted territory with a single aim: to have a darshan of Shiva in his Kailash abode. From the uncommon resolve in the minds of pilgrims, to the feeling of triumph at the end of the expedition, traverse a range of geographical, emotional, and spiritual terrains in this illustrative lecture by Prof Goswamy, based on his latest book.
