Powerful lyrics can elevate good music to greatness that moves and inspires. Indian poets through the ages have used a variety of literary devices to create great music. These range from allusion and alliteration to metaphors and similes.
Udaan is a musical exploration of the use of birds as literary devices in Indian poetry. From the common crow to the partridge lyricists across India have used birds to inspire, teach and woo. Udaan will explore these themes in bhajan, classical and folk compositions in Bengali, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu.
The program will run for 90 minutes with a simultaneous slideshow where Chitra Srikrishna will be the narrator & singer accompanied by 2 musicians (violinist, percussionist) on stage. The performance will be in multiple languages including Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.
