Menopause marks a significant transition in a woman’s life, yet it’s often a topic shrouded in misconceptions and uncertainty. This session offers a comprehensive exploration of the transformative phase that menopause represents in a woman’s life. It aims to illuminate the physiological changes and provide practical strategies for navigating this transition with grace and vitality.

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr. Aruna Muralidhar will delve into the intricate hormonal shifts that underpin menopause, gaining insights into symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. ObGyn and Lifestyle Medicine Physician, Dr. Nitu Bajekal will explore holistic lifestyle approaches to optimize health and well-being during menopause. From nutrition and exercise to stress management and sleep hygiene, the session aims to shed light on how one can tailor their habits to support hormonal balance and alleviate discomfort, with or without hormone therapy.

Aruna Muralidhar Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Dr. Aruna Muralidhar has over 20 years of varied experience in UK and India in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her expertise lies in managing low and high-risk pregnancy, critical care in Obstetrics, PCOS, Adolescent health, menopause and menstrual health, fibroids, endometriosis and cancer and pre-cancer management. Dr. Muralidhar is also a Women’s health consultant in schools, colleges, clubs and corporate spaces. She is a popular speaker in these forums on various topics of women health including sustainable menstruation (menstrual cups etc).

Nitu Bajekal Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Dr. Nitu Bajekal, MD is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in London, UK with nearly 40 years of clinical experience in women’s health. Her special interests include Lifestyle Medicine, Menopause, PCOS, Endometriosis, period problems, complex vulval problems and medical education. She is a keyhole surgeon with experience in laparoscopic procedures including robotics. She is a Fellow of the Royal College and recipient of the Indian President’s Gold Medal. Dr Bajekal is one of the first board-certified Lifestyle Medicine Physicians in the UK. She runs a voluntary service set up to educate, energise and empower schoolgirls and women to make lifestyle choices to help improve their own and their families’ health. Dr. Bajekal is the co-author of Living PCOS Free (Hammersmith Health Books, March 2022) a practical guide to managing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) with proven lifestyle approaches alongside western medicine. She has written this book with her daughter, Rohini Bajekal. Her new book is Finding Me in Menopause (Sheldon Press, April 2024), a complete manual to navigate perimenopause and menopause using nutrition and lifestyle approaches, with or without conventional hormone therapy.
