The mountains of the Western Ghats are no snow-peaked Himalayas, but what they lack in height they make up for it in the diverse bio-diversity. Running along the entire west coast of India, this mountain range harbours an impressive array of India’s wildlife. They have been standing tall for over 150 million years and were formed before the Himalayas or the Arabian Sea; and yet we understand very little of it. Curated by Mycelium Ecology, “Understanding Our Backyard” is a unique talk series aimed at simplifying our relationship with nature. For the first talk in this series, we sit down with Pranay Lal & Aruna Rangachar Pohl and unravel the fascinating story of the Western Ghats. We will dive deep into the ecological history of Western Ghats and hear impactful stories on how this mountain range continues to support the millions of inhabitants. Presented by Mycelium Ecology
