Event Description

Artflute presents ‘Ungallery-Emerge 2021’, an online student showcase designed with an aim to create a platform for the young artists to increase their exposure amongst potential art enthusiasts and collectors, young and veterans alike while they discover their authentic style/voice.

The open call for ‘Ungallery-Emerge’ encouraged entries from the final year Fine Arts and Visual Arts students. With the support of a celebrated panel of jury, 50 young artists were shortlisted across India to be showcased as part of our first edition. The chosen artists' works are being showcased to a wider audience through the platforms of Artflute and 5 artists among them will also be receiving one-to-one mentorship with a jury member. The open call was scheduled to receive applications between August and September 2021.

With over 250 applications from institutions and universities across India, the works span across categories of Painting, Drawing, Printmaking Collage, Sculpture, Installation, Ceramics, Textile, and Mix media. We received an overwhelming response from recognized universities and colleges including The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Kala Bhavana- Visva Bharati University Santiniketan, College of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, JJ School of Art, Mumbai among others. The online showcase will also provide interested buyers with a unique opportunity to purchase artworks directly from the artists. The artworks start from ₹ 5000.

With this initiative, our objective is to collaborate with the experienced community of artists and nurture a platform that the young and emerging artists can explore and create a space where ultimately art can thrive.

Each of our panel members comes with vast knowledge and expertise in the field of Art, Design, and Culture who helped us recognize the 50 young artists.

“Ungallery” is Artflute’s signature initiative with the intention of facilitating interactive art experiences and dialogues to blur the distance between the art, the artist, and the art enthusiast. One of the most recent, celebrated, and well-received interventions was an annual festival, Whitefield Art Collective hosted by VR Bengaluru. Artflute was invited to curate large installations by young artists exploring the theme of sustainability. With over 20 large installations and interactive experiences, the festival was a ground for an active dialogue around sustainability through the medium of art.
