Event Description

Untouchable: Laughing Out Caste follows the groundbreaking journey of stand-up comedian Manjeet Sarkar as he humorously exposes India's often unspoken caste system.

Celebrated for his bold humour, Manjeet has earned international recognition through five national tours of his solo show Untouchable across India and a performance at the United Nations. Now on a world tour, his work resonates globally, sparking discussions about caste, identity, and the role of art in social transformation.

Co-directed by Mike Noone, Untouchable: Laughing Out Caste captures Manjeet’s unique perspective on rural and urban life, caste, and class, educating audiences with laughter and lived experience. The film highlights the transformative impact of art on social awareness.

Early drafts of the film were screened for private audiences in Oslo, Vancouver, and Toronto in 2024. The latest draft of the film will be test-screened for a limited audience on January 5, 2025, at the Bangalore International Center.
