Event Description

Nawal Ali, Ufaq Fatima and Zainab Mufti are the co-founders of Her Pixel Story, a collective of women and non-binary photographers based in Kashmir. They explore photography as a tool to share the Kashmiri narrative from a female perspective that acknowledges and manifests the positioning of womxn in Kashmiri society, conflict and resistance. Her Pixel Story initially started as an Instagram page, where women photographers could connect and work together. It has since evolved into a community, moving beyond gender binaries and encouraging collaboration through photography. Her Pixel Story also hosts photo walks and workshops to empower practitioners in the region.

Tanvi Mishra is a photo editor, curator and writer, and was formerly the Creative Director at The Caravan. She has engaged with Her Pixel Story exchanging ideas over the past few years. She joins us from New Delhi for a live, candid conversation with Nawal, Fatima and Zainab, who are tuning in from Srinagar to talk about their individual photographic practices, as well as the value of a collective within the larger Kashmiri narrative.
