Adding to its many successful digital ventures is Ranga Shankara's latest digital programme - "View from the 4th Row". Single-camera recordings of plays, recorded as an academic archiving exercise, will now be made available to audiences.

In its fourth week, 'View from the 4th Row' brings to audiences Collective Madness's 'Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen'. The fun Hindi musical is inspired by Tom Jones's 'The Fantasticks'. It is adapted to the stage by Harsh Khurana. 'Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen' is directed by National-Award-winning lyricist Swanand Kirkire. Kirkire has also penned the lyrics for the musical, set to Sneha Khanwalkar's foot-tapping music. The play boasts a talented ensemble cast comprising Amitosh Nagpal, Vega Tamotia, Neha Saraf, Harsh Khurana, Viinod Rai, Swanand Kirkire, Vinod Nahardih, Kuldeep Ruhil, and Satish Trivedi, among others.

'Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen' is set in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk and narrates the love story of Baiju Khan and Gauraiya. While the meeting between the two is initially set up by their respective fathers, things soon start taking a course of their own. The play takes audiences back to the magical times of their youth - times of the mad pursuit of youthful love. When the painful transition to reality sets in, though, and ambition overtakes and separates love, do people choose their ambitions or their dreams?

"For me theatre, because it is dynamic and frenetic as it makes use of living instruments, continues to stir up shadow and emotional nuances. My theatre uses everything - singing, gestures, sounds, words, screams, light, darkness, and rediscovers itself in the most naked manifestations of human emotions. These cascade into the audience which experiences them as a reflection of their own life, their own dreams. This play is a tribute to the inner hum which is present in every living being", says Swanand Kirkire, in his director's note.

'Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen' will be available for viewing on Ranga Shankara's YouTube channel (RangaShankaraTheatre) from 10 AM on Fri, 28 May 2021. It will remain on the channel till 11:59 PM IST on Thu, 3rd June 2021. The piece can be viewed free of cost.

'Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen' will be followed by other plays such as 'Uney Purey Shahar Ek' and 'Draupadi Tugil', in the 'View from the 4th Row' programme. A new play premieres every Friday on Ranga Shankara's YouTube channel. The plays have been curated carefully to ensure the viewers get a variety in terms of age, language, and format.
