About the artist:

Nishi Ratnam is a Doordarshan graded artiste and junior fellowship from the Ministry of Culture. Her performances are deeply rooted in the aesthetics and techniques of Lucknow gharana which is marked by precise ang- movements depicting intricacies of Laya along with subtle but meaningful Abhinaya. A reclusive artiste who likes to call her journey so far as an exploration of the art form to unravel hidden depths of human emotions and possibilities she has performed in many prestigious events - Taj Mahotsav, Maestros in whitefield, Tarangini art Festival, Hyderabad Art festival and many more. 

About the event:

In her performance, she will be delighting the audience with some very traditional pieces passed on to her by her rich legacy of gurus which include celebrated artistes like - Vidushi Kajal Sharma and Pt. Raghaw Sah. Beginning with a bhajan, she will continue with taranas, technical compositions and thumris ending with a poem by Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan - “Mayuri”. With her performance today, she would interact with the audience to explain the subtlety of the art form and the rich legacy of the gharana that she represents. 

Tvisha, Astha, Naisha have been training for close to a decade and have emerged as talented students ready to carry the mantle of our classical arts on their strong and able shoulders
