Event Description

We have drifted. From the earth beneath us, from the quiet wisdom within, from the stillness we once knew.

Commissioned by Kalavaahini Trust on the occasion of their 10th Anniversary, Viyoga is a dance performance that moves through the fractures of our time.

Built on the premise of loss, it explores how our harmony with nature quietly fades, how the narcissistic self eclipses the deeper truth within, and how unbridled material desires overshadow the spiritual depth that sustains us.

Through movement and silence, Viyoga asks us to pause, witness, and rediscover what binds us.

Sankhya is a public trust founded in 2009 by Vaibhav Arekar, dedicated to rekindling interest, promoting excellence, and revitalising classical dance for the modern world. Co-directed by Sushant Jadhav, the Mumbai-based institution conducts workshops, performances, dance training, and festivals.

Sankhya Dance Company is one of western India’s leading dance companies, with Bharatanatyam as its forte. It explores and interrogates dance concepts and techniques, blending classical tradition with contemporary sensibility. For Sankhya’s dancers, dance is a way of life.

The company’s dynamic repertoire spans traditional works, contemporary classical creations, and spectacular dance dramas, showcasing an impressive range of themes and performances that bridge the gap between classical heritage and modern expression.
