Eeshwar Aiyer is a Carnatic musician and Bharatanatyam dancer, who has performed concerts at many prestigious venues and sabhas that include Gayana Samaja, Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, Ananya Sabhangana, Indian Institute of World Culture and many others.
This performance will be celebrating the music that was a result of the Bhakti Movement. The Bhakti movement that spanned several centuries in the history of the Indian subcontinent, is an unparalleled one - one that resulted in exquisite music, poetry and art. From the Azhwars and Nayanmars of 6th-7th centuries, the Sharanas of 12th century, the saint poets from Braj and Mewar of 14th century, the Haridasas of 15 - 16th centuries to the Varkari Sant Vani of the 17th century, one can hear the myriad tapestries of Bhakti unfold; of voices that blurred the differences between God and devotee. These voices and their works are celebrated everyday for the joy they bring to us, the variety of everyday emotions that we can all relate to, and for giving us moments of introspection, silence and one-ness with the Divine.
