Event Description

Wait To Be Seated is a theatrical exploration of hospitality. Set in a nowhere-anywhere space — a dinner table, a red carpet, a dance floor — the performance brings together two feminist collectives from different cultural backgrounds as they search for common ground in their understanding of hospitality and all that sits beneath it.

Scenes shift between the real and the farcical as the ensemble examines the rules of hospitality: Who do they protect, and why? What remains when formalities fall away? What happens when gender, race, and colonialism take a seat at the table? What can we ask of one another — and can we ever truly say no?

Together, the artists work toward a shared understanding that doesn’t smooth over difference. Instead, they embrace it, creating a liminal space where multiple truths coexist and where new friendships can take root.

Wait To Be Seated marks the first collaboration between Sandbox Collective (Bangalore) and She She Pop (Berlin). The show premieres in Bangalore in November 2025, followed by performances at Adishakti, Pondicherry, with a Berlin premiere in March 2026.
